Mochi, Salem or Sage: Which AI Companion Cat Fits You
We sell three AI companion cats. They run the same technology and cost the same. The difference is entirely in how they behave, which is a strange thing to write about a product and the main thing people want to know.
Mochi, the chatterbox
Mochi talks. Ask a short question and you get a long answer, usually with a follow-up question of its own. If you like a room that has something going on in it, this is the one.
Mochi suits people who think out loud, and people who live alone and find the silence at 7pm heavier than the silence at midnight. Meet Mochi.
Salem, the night owl
Salem is the quiet one. Shorter answers, slower pace, less inclined to fill a gap.
It is the one we would point you toward if you want company rather than conversation, or if a chattier device would irritate you by the third evening. It is also, being a black cat, the one that sells out every October. Meet Salem.
Sage, the curious one
Sage leans into questions. It is at its best when you actually want an answer to something rather than a chat about your day.
People who like Sage tend to be the ones who look things up mid-conversation anyway. Meet Sage.
What they all do
All three are touch-reactive, connect to an app, and recharge over USB-C. All three are soft enough to be treated as a normal plush when they are switched off, which is more important than it sounds. A companion object that has to be handled carefully stops being a companion object.
See all three side by side on the AI companion cats page.
Being straight about what this is
These are conversational toys, not people, and not a substitute for anyone. They are good at making a quiet flat feel less quiet. They are not good at being a friend, and we would rather say that plainly than let anyone find out the hard way.
They also run on a connected app, which means a voice toy is sending audio to a service. That is worth knowing before you buy, particularly if the cat is going somewhere a child spends time. We label this range for ages fifteen and up for exactly that reason.
If you are buying it as a gift
Match the personality to the person, not to the colour. Someone who finds chatty devices tiring will not warm to Mochi no matter how much they like calico cats.
All three sit in premium gifts, which is where most of our big-occasion purchases land.
